Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate will remain in detention in the United States while contesting extradition to the United Kingdom, after a federal magistrate judge in Miami rejected their application for release.
Britain is seeking their extradition to face criminal allegations including rape, assault and facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.
US Magistrate Judge Lauren Louis concluded that the brothers’ wealth, international connections and history of extensive international travel presented significant flight-risk concerns.
The brothers deny wrongdoing, and their lawyers maintain that their public visibility would make flight difficult.
Their legal difficulties span several jurisdictions. Romanian authorities have separately pursued criminal proceedings against the brothers, including allegations involving human trafficking and other offences. They deny those allegations as well.
The extradition process in the United States could take months, and Britain’s request remains subject to the applicable judicial and executive procedures.
No finding of guilt has been made against either brother in relation to the British allegations.
