The true measure of a life well lived is the legacy it leaves behind, one that continues to inspire, dignify, and open doors long after the giver has passed on.
My late father, Chief Charles Enidom Nwudo Obegolu, the Ezeani Ononiwu of Obeledu, gifted us a name rooted in honour, humility, and service.
I have often witnessed the weight of that legacy, especially during my contest for General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, when many who had never met me supported my aspiration solely because they respected the values he embodied.
Today, that legacy was again honoured and celebrated as the Nigerian Bar Association, Anaocha Branch, convened the 2nd Biennial Memorial Lecture in his name at the Chief Charles E.N. Obegolu Bar Centre, Obeludu, Anambra State.

The keynote address, delivered with depth and intellectual clarity by Ikeazor Akaraiwe, SAN, explored the theme “Justice Delivery as a Pathway to Social Security.”
The address, followed by an engaging panel discussion, provided a meaningful tribute to my father’s unwavering belief in justice as the soul of societal harmony.
I extend my profound appreciation to the leadership of the NBA Anaocha Branch, the planning committee, and the host, John C. Oraekeh, Esq., whose relentless efforts ensured a dignified and impactful programme.
My gratitude also goes to the R.S.V.P. team, Kaine Anawune, Esq. and Olisaeloka Onwudinjo, Esq., for their exceptional coordination.
I am especially grateful to the Chief Judge of Anambra State, Hon. Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, as well as the Judges of the High Court of Anambra State, who honoured the event with their presence.

My appreciation also extends to the Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Magistrates, and distinguished colleagues whose attendance added great value to the day.
To every guest, colleague, and friend who gathered to honour the memory of my father, thank you. Your presence reaffirms the enduring relevance of a legacy built on service and integrity.
As we look ahead to the next memorial lecture, may the values he lived by continue to inspire our collective pursuit of justice.

Emeka Obegolu, SAN
