The Ogun State Police Command has arrested six suspects and rescued two pregnant women and four children during a raid on an alleged baby factory in Mowe, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area.
According to Channels Television, the intelligence-led operation was carried out at about 8:00 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, through Gbarinmole, a suburb of Mowe.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued in Abeokuta by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi.
Police said sustained intelligence led operatives of the Mowe Division to the suspected hideout, where human trafficking and illegal adoption activities had allegedly been taking place.
Two Pregnant Women, Four Children Rescued
During the raid, operatives rescued two heavily pregnant women and four children comprising two boys and two girls.
The police described the operation as a major breakthrough in the Command’s campaign against human trafficking, child exploitation and illegal adoption.
Six suspects, including an attending nurse, were arrested in connection with the alleged operation.
The authorities did not disclose whether the rescued children were born at the facility or brought there through other means.
Newborn Missing After Hospital Delivery
Channels Television reported that further intelligence led police officers to a hospital within the Mowe area, where another woman had delivered a baby boy on August 20.
The mother was found receiving medical treatment, but the newborn could not be accounted for.
The attending nurse was subsequently arrested to assist investigators in locating the missing infant and determining what happened after the delivery.
Case Transferred to SCID
The case is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
Investigators are expected to establish the full extent of the alleged syndicate’s activities, locate the missing newborn and determine whether other individuals participated in the suspected trafficking network.
The police said anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Ogun Police Vow to Fight Child Trafficking
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives involved in the raid for their response and operational efficiency.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating human trafficking, child trading and other forms of violent crime across the state.
Ojajuni also urged residents to provide timely and credible information about suspicious activities, assuring them that the police would continue to rely on intelligence-led operations to protect vulnerable persons.
The allegations against the arrested persons have not been determined by a court. They remain entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
