NBA CELEBRATES OKEY WALI, SAN, AT 68, RECOGNISES LEGACY OF SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has celebrated former President of the Association, Chief Okey Wali, SAN, DSSRS, on his 68th birthday, recognising his contributions to the legal profession and his years of service to the Bar.

In a congratulatory message published on October 29, 2026, the Association paid tribute to Wali’s professional journey and leadership, acknowledging his place in the history of the Nigerian legal profession.

The celebration highlighted the importance of recognising senior members of the Bar whose contributions to professional leadership, institutional development and the administration of justice have helped shape the Association.

Wali’s career within the NBA includes his service as its 27th President, during which he led the Association at a significant period in its institutional history.

The NBA’s birthday tribute also provides an opportunity to reflect on the responsibility of successive generations of legal practitioners to preserve the values of professional integrity, service, mentorship and commitment to the rule of law.

The recognition of former Bar leaders remains an important aspect of institutional memory, particularly in a profession where the development of younger practitioners depends partly on the experience, guidance and example of senior members.

As the legal profession continues to evolve, the contributions of past leaders remain relevant to conversations about professional standards, institutional independence and the future direction of the Nigerian Bar.
