The award will form part of the activities of the NBA-SPIDEL 2026 Annual Conference scheduled to hold from November 9 to 13, 2026, at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, Abia State.
The conference, themed “In Public Interest: Advancing Justice, Democracy and Development,” will bring together stakeholders to examine issues affecting justice, democratic institutions and sustainable development.
According to the award information released by NBA-SPIDEL, the initiative recognises the media as an important partner in advancing the rule of law, strengthening democratic institutions, amplifying the voices of marginalised and vulnerable populations, and holding public and private institutions accountable.
The award also seeks to encourage responsible, independent, ethical and development-oriented journalism that contributes meaningfully to national development and the protection of public interest.
