The Airport Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old boy over the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in the Sabo Masalashi area of Bassa, Abuja.

According to Sahara Reporters, the incident allegedly occurred on August 15, 2026, and was reported by the child’s mother at the Abuja Airport Police Division.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Adeola, said the teenager allegedly invited the girl into his room under the pretext of purchasing some of the soya bean cake she was selling.

The Command said the suspect’s statement was obtained in the presence of his mother, in accordance with procedures governing the treatment of children accused of offences.

Police authorities also said measures had been taken to protect the welfare, safety and wellbeing of the alleged victim.

The suspect is expected to be brought before a juvenile court of competent jurisdiction after the conclusion of the investigation.

She directed the Divisional Police Officer to ensure that the child receives adequate protection and that the case is handled strictly in accordance with the law.

ASP Mohammed Adeola is listed by the Nigeria Police Force as the spokesperson attached to the Airport Command.

The allegations remain under investigation, and no court has determined the teenager’s guilt. Because both the suspect and alleged victim are minors, their photographs and identifying details should not be published.
