The leadership of the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN), headed by President Saidu Muhammad Tundunwada, Esq., paid a courtesy visit to the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, on Monday, September 23, 2023.

This visit, held at the NBA Secretariat, served as a platform for MULAN to congratulate Osigwe on his electoral victory and to discuss pivotal issues affecting the legal profession.

During the meeting, Tundunwada congratulated Osigwe and pledged the association’s unwavering support for his administration. He remarked, “We have confidence that you will succeed, given the mandate from lawyers, and we will continue to pray for your success.”

MULAN underscored the importance of Osigwe delivering on the promises outlined in his manifesto, indicating that they would hold him accountable for his goals. The association expressed optimism that his leadership would promote a proactive and inclusive bar, which would be vital for the growth of the legal profession.

One significant concern raised by the MULAN executives was the need for a designated prayer space at the NBA Secretariat to accommodate Muslim lawyers’ religious needs and foster inclusivity within the profession.

Other MULAN Executive Committee members present included Akinwale Akinlabi, PhD (Secretary General), Ahmed Loko, Esq. (Welfare Secretary), Abdulrahman Ahmad Paiko, Esq. (2nd Assistant Secretary General), Hajiya Hauwa Abbas (Assistant Financial Secretary), and Ayuba Jabaje, PhD (Auditor General).

Osigwe warmly welcomed the MULAN delegation in response, appreciating their visit and support. He reassured them that their concerns, particularly regarding the prayer space, would be considered, emphasising the importance of collaboration to ensure the NBA remains a platform for unity, professional growth, and the advancement of justice in Nigeria.
