YLF-Ibadan: Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN Pro Bono Scheme Gains Momentum in Ibadan

The Young Lawyers Forum (YLF), Ibadan Branch, has continued to receive commendation following the successful take-off of the Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN Pro Bono Scheme, a noble initiative sponsored by renowned legal luminary, Asiwaju Mutalubi Ojo Adebayo, SAN, in honour of the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening access to justice while creating meaningful opportunities for young lawyers within the Ibadan Branch to gain practical advocacy experience through pro bono legal representation.

Speaking on the initiative, the Chairman of YLF-Ibadan Branch, Timilehin Olayiwola, described the scheme as timely, impactful, and people-oriented. According to him, the programme will not only elevate the Forum but also sharpen the advocacy skills and courtroom exposure of young lawyers in the branch.

Under the scheme, young lawyers within 0–5 years post-call are eligible to participate and benefit. In a further demonstration of commitment to the welfare and development of young practitioners, the sponsoring Silk, Asiwaju Mutalubi Ojo Adebayo, SAN, has pledged the payment of a support/logistics fee of ₦250,000 to participating lawyers handling assigned matters under the scheme.

The initiative has already generated significant interest among young lawyers, with several participants indicating readiness to serve and a number of pro bono cases already assigned.

Members of the Young Lawyers Forum have expressed profound appreciation to the Learned Silk for what they described as a visionary and transformative intervention, while praying for the sustainability and expansion of the initiative in the years ahead.
