The Young Lawyers Forum (YLF) of the Nigerian Bar Association Ibadan Branch is set to convene its highly anticipated Biennial Symposium 2026, a strategic gathering focused on restoring ethical values, strengthening mentorship culture, and promoting professional excellence within the legal profession.

Scheduled to hold on Thursday, 21st May 2026, at the Aare Afé Babalola Bar Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State, the symposium will bring together legal practitioners, academics, members of the Bench, and stakeholders across the wider legal community.

Themed “The Bar of Our Dream: Ethics, Mentorship and Professional Excellence in Developing Young Lawyers and Curbing Unethical Practices,” the symposium aims to address growing concerns surrounding declining professional standards, erosion of mentorship structures, and the increasing attraction to unethical practices among emerging legal practitioners.

In recognition of exemplary service to the profession and society, the Forum will honour Mutalubi Adebayo Ojo and Akeem Adedeji Agbaje for their outstanding contributions to mentorship, leadership, and the development of the legal profession.

The symposium will feature Dapo Akinosun, Partner at SimmonsCooper Partners, as Lead Resource Person. His participation is expected to provide practical insights into building a more disciplined, ethical, and forward-looking Bar.

According to the leadership of the YLF Ibadan Branch, the symposium represents more than a routine professional gathering, describing it as a deliberate intervention aimed at preserving the nobility, integrity, and discipline traditionally associated with the legal profession.

The event is expected to attract wide participation from branches of the Nigerian Bar Association across the country, further reinforcing conversations around the future of legal practice and the role of young lawyers in sustaining professional standards.
