US-Based Nigerian Doctor Sues Major Adebiyi for Alleged Land Trespass

A United States-based Nigerian medical doctor, Dr. Ijeoma Nduka-Nwosu, has filed a lawsuit against Major Joseph Adebiyi at the Lagos State High Court for alleged trespass on her property located in Olugborogan Village, Lekki, Lagos.

In Suit No. LD/14323LMW/2023, Nduka-Nwosu claims ownership of the 2912.150 square meter land purchased from the Sule Olusesi Chieftaincy Family in 1992. She alleges that Adebiyi, through hired thugs, invaded the property in December 2021, causing damages worth over N25 million.

Nduka-Nwosu accused Adebiyi of attempting to claim ownership with a dubious Deed of Assignment despite her possessions and investments on the land, including a residential building nearing completion.

She has reported the issue to law enforcement agencies, including the Lagos Task Force on Land Grabbing. She is seeking a court declaration affirming her ownership, an injunction against further trespass, and N50 million in damages.

Her lawyer, Joseph Igwe of Ubani & Co., noted that despite the ongoing case, Adebiyi continues to harass Nduka-Nwosu and is attempting to resurvey and sell the property to unsuspecting buyers.
