The Nigerian judiciary recorded another milestone in community-driven support for the administration of justice as a newly constructed court signpost, donated by legal practitioner and Notary Public, Nelson O. Okereke, Esq., was formally commissioned and handed over to the Chief Magistrates’ Court, Osisioma, in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
The official handover ceremony, held on Friday, August 14, 2026, brought together judicial officers, court administrators, members of the legal profession, and court staff to witness the unveiling of the landmark project. The initiative reflects the growing role of legal practitioners in supporting judicial institutions beyond the courtroom through projects that enhance public access and institutional visibility.
Delivering the project, Nelson O. Okereke, Esq., described the donation as a modest contribution towards strengthening the justice system and improving public identification of the court. The signpost is expected to enhance the court’s visibility, making it easier for litigants, lawyers, and members of the public to locate the judicial facility.
A symbolic handover of the signpost was conducted before dignitaries present, marking the official transfer of the project to the management of the Chief Magistrates’ Court, Osisioma.

Following the commissioning, a commemorative group photograph was taken with Nelson O. Okereke, Esq., alongside his wife, Mrs. Ijeoma Okereke, and their son, Chiazalam, whose vision and encouragement contributed to bringing the project to fruition.
Representing the Chief Registrar of the High Court of Abia State at the ceremony was His Worship E. U. Ukaegbu, Deputy Chief Registrar, High Court, Umuahia. Other judicial officers in attendance included His Worship Onyemachi, His Worship Young Omenka, and His Worship B. A. Enyinnaya. Also present was the Court Administrator, Mr. Osinachi Ukattah, while the entire staff of the Chief Magistrates’ Court joined in witnessing the occasion.
The ceremony underscored the importance of collaboration between members of the Bar and the Bench in promoting a more accessible and efficient justice system. It also highlighted how private initiatives can contribute meaningfully to strengthening judicial infrastructure and public confidence in the administration of justice.
The successful commissioning of the signpost stands as a lasting symbol of service, partnership, and commitment to the advancement of the judiciary in Abia State.
