Suspected bandits have abducted a prominent businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Rabo Gesha, during a late-night attack on Gubuchi Community in Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to Sahara Reporters, the attack occurred on Monday night when heavily armed men invaded the community, firing sporadically before whisking the businessman away to an unknown destination.
The incident was confirmed by security source Bakatsine, who identified the victim as Alhaji Rabo Gesha and described the attack as one that has left residents traumatised and fearful.
According to the source, the gunmen stormed the community under the cover of darkness before carrying out the abduction.
The victim is widely known in the area for his business activities and philanthropic contributions to the community.
The latest incident has heightened anxiety among residents, who fear a resurgence of night-time attacks and kidnappings across rural communities in Kaduna State.
As reported by Sahara Reporters, residents are hoping for the safe return of the abducted businessman while expressing concerns over the ability of security agencies to curb repeated attacks on vulnerable communities.
The attack has also renewed calls for stronger security measures to protect rural communities that continue to face threats from armed groups.
Authorities had not issued an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report, while efforts to secure the victim’s release were ongoing.
