#OsunDecides2026: We did it, Davido celebrates Adeleke’s victory

Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has celebrated the re-election of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, following his victory in the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

According to Punch, the award-winning singer reacted shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared the election results on Sunday.

Taking to his official X account, Davido shared a brief but emotional message celebrating the outcome.

“We did it Unc.”

The singer also posted a video showing himself lying on the floor as one of his aides, Israel, congratulated him following the announcement of the election results.

Throughout the electioneering period, Davido played an active role in his uncle’s campaign, repeatedly expressing confidence that Governor Adeleke would secure another term in office.

As earlier reported by Punch, the Osun State Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, declared Adeleke the winner after polling 511,067 votes.

The incumbent governor, who contested under the Accord Party, defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who secured 444,815 votes.

The official results showed that Adeleke won in 19 local government areas, while Oyebamiji recorded victories in 11 local government areas across the state.

INEC also announced that 1,010,684 voters were accredited for the election, with 985,079 valid votes recorded. A total of 20,721 votes were rejected, bringing the total votes cast to 1,005,800.

Following the completion of the collation process and the endorsement of the results by party agents, the Returning Officer declared that Adeleke had met all constitutional requirements and was duly returned as the winner of the August 15 governorship election.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished third in the election.
