The Nigeria Police Force has commenced an investigation following the discovery of an unidentified woman’s body inside a church compound in the Obelewo area of Osogbo, Osun State.
According to Naija News, the woman was discovered with her left wrist severed and removed from the scene by unidentified persons.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, said police detectives visited the premises after receiving information about the discovery.
Preliminary investigations reportedly indicated that the woman had been killed before her left wrist was cut off and taken away.
“The investigations revealed that the deceased was slaughtered and her left wrist severed and taken away by unknown persons,” Iniedu said.
Victim Yet to Be Identified
The police said the identity of the deceased had not been established as of the time the incident was reported.
Investigators are also working to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.
The motive behind the removal of the woman’s wrist remains unknown, and the police have not officially linked the incident to ritual activity or any particular group.
The deceased’s remains were evacuated from the church premises and deposited at a hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
Police Investigation Continues
The case has been transferred to the Osun State Command Investigation Department for a comprehensive investigation.
The department is expected to examine evidence recovered from the scene, establish the woman’s identity and trace her movements before her death.
No suspect had been publicly identified or arrested in connection with the killing at the time of filing this report.
Residents with useful information about the deceased or suspicious activities around the Obelewo area are expected to assist investigators as efforts continue to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
