The Lawyers In Business Institute (LIBI) has invited lawyers and other interested participants to join its Cooperative and Money-Market Scheme ahead of Treasury Bills primary bidding, which it says will take place on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
In its announcement, LIBI encouraged legal practitioners to complement their professional earnings with investments aimed at building long-term financial stability.
“Dear Learned Counsel, as you are making money from ‘I put it to you’, make sure there is somewhere you are putting the money to multiply,” the institute stated.
According to LIBI, interested participants can contribute ₦2.5 million individually or pool funds with friends to participate in the arrangement.
The institute projects approximately ₦424,000 in upfront proceeds on that contribution, with payment expected on Thursday, October 22, 2026, and capital repayment approximately one year later. These are the promoter’s projections, subject to the auction outcome and applicable investment terms.
LIBI said postdated cheques would be issued to participants for the repayment of their capital at maturity.
The institute also encouraged quarterly participation as a way of gradually building an investment portfolio while using upfront proceeds to address immediate financial needs.
LIBI Promotes Income Diversification for Lawyers
Describing its focus as practical knowledge in “making, managing and multiplying money,” LIBI said its programmes combine financial education with opportunities for participation.
The institute stated that it has promoted business participation among lawyers at Annual General Conferences since 2019 and expressed satisfaction with the response to its initiatives.
It also encouraged lawyers to explore company directorship and business opportunities, referring to the Rules of Professional Conduct in support of its advocacy.
