Kwara Court Remands Seven Over Murder of Mojisola Awesu Linked to Prophet Ogunse’s Son

The Kwara State High Court in Ilorin has ordered the remand of seven suspects connected to the murder of Mojisola Awesu, a graduate of the Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa.

Justice Ibrahim Yusuf issued the order on Monday, February 24, 2025, citing the absence of legal counsel for three of the defendants, causing delays in the trial. The case is adjourned to March 4, 2025.

  • Adebayo Joshua Happiness and Timileyin Kolawole are accused of murdering Mojisola Awesu on August 9, 2024.
  • Happiness Adebayo, along with his parents, Adebayo Adeniyi and Bukola Adeniyi, faces charges of conspiring to destroy evidence, violating the Kwara State Penal Code Law of 2006.
  • Adeoye Adeola, Lawal Aminat, and Peter Bulus are charged with disposing of the victim’s body at a dumpsite along Wara Road, Ilorin, under the Kwara State Prohibition of Dealing in Human Parts Law, 2018.

Link to Prophet Ogunse’s Son

Reports indicate that Promise Ogunse, son of Prophet Adeniyi Adebayo (popularly known as Prophet Ogunse), founder of The Light of God Miracle Embassy Church Worldwide, was arrested in connection to the murder.

According to sources, Promise Ogunse invited Mojisola Awesu to a hotel in Ilorin, where she was last seen alive. Her body was later found dumped at a dumpsite, allegedly abandoned by hotel staff after the suspects fled.

The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the arrest of Promise Ogunse and his father, Prophet Adeniyi Adebayo, who remain in custody for further investigation.

Next Court Hearing

The court has scheduled March 4, 2025, for the next hearing, as investigations and legal proceedings continue.
