Junketing President, Returns To Nigeria After UK, France Trips

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja following an 18-day working visit and retreat in France and the United Kingdom. The presidential aircraft landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 9:50 PM on Monday, according to the State House media office.

Upon arrival, Tinubu was welcomed by top government officials including his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; and Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu.

The President departed Nigeria on April 2, spending the first leg of his trip in Paris, where he held a significant meeting with Mr. Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor for Africa at the U.S. Department of State. Discussions centered around strengthening bilateral ties, regional security, and sustainable economic development across Africa.

Tinubu also reportedly made a private stop in London before concluding his trip. During his time abroad, the Presidency maintained that the President remained in active communication with government officials and issued directives on pressing national matters, including emerging security threats.

A key highlight of his engagements was the commitment to fostering peace in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo through multilateral efforts and regional cooperation.
