FORMER ALPHA-BETA EMPLOYEE ALLEGES CYBERSECURITY POLICY FORGERY, HARASSMENT AT TAX CONSULTING FIRM

A former employee of Alpha-Beta Consulting Limited, Segun Oluwasanmi, has accused the company’s Chief Technical Officer, Olumide Hezekiah Idowu, of forging his signature on the firm’s Cybersecurity Policy and manipulating official corporate records, allegations that have now been escalated to law enforcement and anti-graft agencies.

Oluwasanmi, who worked with Alpha-Beta Consulting from September 2018 until January 7, 2025, made the allegations in a petition submitted through the Lagos State chapter of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR).

The petition has been forwarded to the Nigeria Police Force, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Alpha-Beta Consulting is a private firm engaged in tax collection on behalf of the Lagos State Government.

According to Oluwasanmi, the alleged forgery occurred in September 2023 during a review of the company’s Cybersecurity Policy. He claimed that despite being directly responsible for drafting and implementing the policy, he was deliberately excluded from the finalisation process by the CTO, who allegedly inserted his signature without consent and backdated the document to September 8, 2023 before forwarding it to the Managing Director for approval.

He alleged that the action was part of a broader pattern of workplace harassment, marginalisation, and discrimination that began after Idowu’s appointment as CTO in July 2022. Oluwasanmi claimed that his comments were removed from the policy draft, responsibilities were reassigned without justification, and his professional input was repeatedly sidelined.

The former employee stated that he only became aware of the forged signature after receiving the signed policy from a colleague on September 13, 2023. He said he immediately raised the issue internally through emails and verbal complaints to management.

Following his complaint, Alpha-Beta Consulting reportedly set up an internal investigation panel on September 22, 2023, comprising Dr. Kola Fajuyigbe and Mrs. Anjola Ige-Amusan. Oluwasanmi appeared before the panel on September 28, 2023 and alleged that during the proceedings, the CTO admitted to cropping and inserting his signature on the document on the grounds that Oluwasanmi was not physically present.

Despite this alleged admission, Oluwasanmi said the panel’s report was never released and no disciplinary action was taken. He claimed to have followed up with management on multiple occasions in 2024 without success.

In his petition, Oluwasanmi outlined his contributions to Alpha-Beta Consulting, including drafting and implementing key corporate policies such as the Cybersecurity Policy, Change Management Policy, Procurement Policy, Inventory Policy, and the Business Continuity Plan, which he said were critical to modernising the firm’s operations and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The CDHR stated that the alleged forgery was not an isolated incident, noting that previous complaints of harassment and discrimination were lodged by Oluwasanmi in October 2022, September 2023, and again in 2024.

The petition further alleged intimidation and harassment during police invitations, claiming that Oluwasanmi was lured from Ogun State to Lagos and subjected to unprofessional conduct during the process.

According to the CDHR, the alleged acts constitute criminal offences under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, including computer-related forgery, electronic signature fraud, identity theft, impersonation, and unlawful system interference, as well as offences under the Criminal Code Act.

The petition is said to be supported by documentary and electronic evidence, including written complaints, email correspondence, voice recordings of panel proceedings, and copies of the 2019 and 2023 Cybersecurity Policies showing disputed alterations and revision histories.

The CDHR has called on the police, ICPC, and EFCC to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation, enforce appropriate legal sanctions where necessary, and ensure the protection of the complainant’s rights.
