Emeka Obegolu, SAN, has called on lawyers across the country to participate in the Nigerian Bar Association Institute of Continuing Legal Education (NBA-ICLE) National Training Needs Assessment Survey, aimed at identifying professional development priorities and shaping the Institute’s capacity-building programmes for the next 12 months.
In a message to members of the Bar, Obegolu described the survey as an important opportunity for legal practitioners to influence the direction and content of continuing legal education in Nigeria, ensuring that future training programmes address the practical demands and evolving needs of legal practice.
The nationwide assessment seeks feedback on priority areas of substantive law and technical skills that would enhance professional competence, preferred learning formats, including physical, live virtual, self-paced and on-demand sessions, as well as practical challenges affecting participation, such as training costs, scheduling and travel constraints.
According to Obegolu, the responses will directly inform the development of relevant, accessible and career-enhancing training programmes for lawyers at different stages of their professional journeys.
The survey, which is open to all members of the Nigerian Bar Association, comprises 12 questions and is expected to take approximately five minutes to complete.
He particularly encouraged young lawyers and senior practitioners alike to participate, stressing that a responsive continuing legal education framework requires the collective input of members of the profession.
He further urged lawyers to share the survey with colleagues in their respective branches, law firms, chambers and professional networks to ensure broad participation across the country.
The deadline for submission is Friday, 6 November 2026.
Lawyers are encouraged to complete the survey through the link below:
