The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Osogbo Branch, is set to flag off its highly anticipated 2025 Law Week today, May 24, with a recreational visit to Owala Lake, where members will enjoy a boat cruise and other side attractions as a symbolic start to the week-long legal and civic festivities.

With the theme “Appreciating the Gains of the Past in Moving Forward,” this year’s Law Week is carefully curated to blend reflection, advocacy, wellness, and legal discourse.

Highlights of the 2025 NBA Osogbo Law Week include:

May 28, 2025Walk for Rule of Law & Medical Screening
Members of the Bar will take to the streets for a sensitization walk titled “Walk for Rule of Law”, followed by free medical screening, reinforcing the Association’s commitment to public engagement and lawyer wellbeing.

May 29, 2025Annual Law Week Lecture
The climax of the celebrations will be the Annual Lecture on “State & Local Governments’ Independence under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as Amended): A Myth or Reality?”

This powerful session promises robust discourse, featuring a Keynote Address and panel discussions by leading legal minds.

Keynote Speaker:
Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, Life Bencher and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), will headline the session, bringing his depth of experience and insight to the national debate on federalism and constitutional autonomy.
