The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested a man identified as Zayyanu Halilu following allegations of sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl in Abuja.
According to a statement issued by FCT Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh, officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit were conducting a routine patrol around Airport Bridge Taxi Park when they noticed a tinted vehicle and intervened.
Police allege that officers found the suspect sexually abusing the child inside the vehicle.
The command further said preliminary medical examination indicated that the child was approximately three months pregnant, while investigators are examining allegations that the abuse had occurred repeatedly.
The victim is receiving medical attention and other protective support, according to police. The suspect remains in custody and is expected to be charged upon completion of the investigation.

The allegations against Halilu remain unproved. He is entitled to the presumption of innocence until guilt is established before a competent court.
