In a bold move to protect the rights of legal practitioners, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) National Litigation Committee has filed a suit against the Inspector General of Police, the Police Service Commission, and other parties.
The case, marked FCT/ABJ/CS/10/2025, seeks justice for Mr. Okpaga, a legal practitioner detained and subjected to physical assault by officers of the Nigeria Police attached to the Cyber Crime Center in Abuja.

- Enforcement of Rights: A judicial declaration affirming that Mr. Okpaga’s detention and assault were unlawful and unconstitutional.
- Monetary Damages: Compensation to the tune of ₦500 million for the physical and emotional trauma suffered by Mr. Okpaga.
