The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has immortalized Assistant Superintendent of EFCC (ASE 1), Aminu Sahabi Salisu, who was tragically killed in Anambra State on January 17, 2025. The administrative block of the EFCC Academy in Karu, Abuja, has been named in his honor.

Salisu: Tragic Loss in Service
Salisu, a gallant officer, was fatally attacked during a raid in Awka by Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu, an alleged internet fraudster. After committing the crime, Ikechukwu was arrested while hiding in a neighbor’s ceiling. Despite efforts to save Salisu, he succumbed to his injuries and was buried in Sokoto State.

EFCC Chairman’s Tribute
At the Annual Rewards and Recognition Ceremony held at the EFCC Academy on January 25, 2025, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede expressed deep sorrow over Salisu’s death.
“We are saddened by the loss of our officer while on official assignment. He paid the supreme price in service to the nation, and his memory will live on,” Olukoyede said.

The ceremony also honored 36 outstanding EFCC staff members for exceptional contributions, including recoveries, convictions, and operational excellence.
- Staff Member of the Year: Chief Superintendent of the EFCC (CSE) Alvan Gurumnaan.
- Best Directorate: Sokoto Zonal Directorate.
- Additional awardees: Bitrus Yakubu, Katmi Kefas, Halilu Dauda, Nenman Danladi, Oluwakemi Aaron, Yusuf Umar, Michael Adukwu Uchechika, David Solomon, among others.

A Call for Dedication
Olukoyede urged EFCC officers to uphold excellence, emphasizing, “Excellence is not about doing things right once in a while but doing them right consistently.”
