Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, has called for a more deliberate translation of women’s rights from legal texts into lived realities, emphasising the strategic use of technology and existing legal frameworks to deepen access to justice.
She made this call while participating in the Law Week of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Ikeja Branch, themed “From Paper to Power: Enforcing Women’s Rights Through Technology & Legal Framework.” According to her, the advancement of women’s rights requires more than progressive legislation; it demands intentional enforcement mechanisms that leverage innovation, digital tools, and institutional collaboration.
Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya noted that while significant strides have been made in articulating women’s rights within Nigeria’s legal framework, the real challenge lies in implementation. She stressed that technology offers an important bridge between policy and practice, particularly in expanding access to justice, improving legal awareness, and strengthening accountability.
Commending FIDA Ikeja for sustaining critical conversations on gender justice, she described the Law Week as timely and impactful, urging continuous engagement that converts advocacy into measurable outcomes for women and girls across the country.

She further praised the branch for its consistent leadership in women’s rights advocacy and for pushing the frontiers of legal innovation in the pursuit of equality and social justice.
