Police Take Custody of Fugitive Suspect Behind Alleged Murder of FRSC Officer and Daughter

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), operating through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja, has successfully taken full custody of the fugitive suspect, Victor Benjamin Fejemirokun. The suspect was officially handed over by the Ghana Police Service in Accra, Ghana, following a meticulously coordinated multi-agency operation.

Fejemirokun had been the subject of an intense manhunt after he allegedly fled Nigeria following the abduction and suspected murder of an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and her young daughter in Osun State.

The arrest and subsequent handover were facilitated after the Ghana Police Service, utilizing credible intelligence, located and apprehended the suspect within their jurisdiction. The Ghana authorities promptly notified the Nigeria Police Force, enabling INTERPOL NCB Abuja to swiftly proceed to Accra to finalize the extradition and custody transfer today.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD., NPM, has extended his condolences to the family of the bereaved FRSC officer and her child. The IGP gave a firm assurance that the investigation into the heinous crimes would be thorough and brought to a logical conclusion, after which the suspect would be formally arraigned in court.

IGP Egbetokun also publicly commended the Ghana Police Service for their high level of professionalism and invaluable cooperation in the cross-border operation.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to protecting the lives of all citizens and ensuring that offenders are apprehended regardless of distance or national borders.
