The Nigerian Bar Association Section on Legal Practice (NBA-SLP) paid a courtesy visit to the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, at the NBA National Secretariat on Thursday, 4th September 2025.
Leading the delegation, Folashade Alli, SAN, newly appointed Chairman of the NBA-SLP, was accompanied by Vice Chairman Tonye Krukobor, SAN, and members of the Section’s Executive Committee (ExCo). She commended the proactive leadership of the Mazi Afam Osigwe-led administration and congratulated the Chairman of the 2025 Annual General Conference Planning Committee, Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, for delivering a successful conference.
Folashade Alli, SAN, explained that the courtesy visit aimed to introduce the newly appointed leadership of the SLP and to seek the President’s continued support and guidance as the new ExCo commences its tenure. She reaffirmed her commitment to restoring confidence in the legal profession through an inclusive, results-driven Section.
President Osigwe’s Charge
In his remarks, President Osigwe urged the SLP to run an inclusive administration that reaches every lawyer across the federation. He emphasized that the Section belongs to all members of the Bar, regardless of region, and called on its leadership to reflect diversity in its programmes and appointments.

Folashade Alli outlined SLP’s vision during their tenure, namely:
- To build the most member-centric and digitally accessible Section of the NBA.
- To positively impact the practice of every member, irrespective of location.
- Establish regional/zonal chapters to strengthen grassroots engagement.
- Expand Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programmes to raise professional standards.
Folashade Alli also highlighted the Section’s deliberate inclusion of gender balance and regional diversity in its appointments.
Voices from the Leadership
Tonye Krukrubo, SAN, Vice-Chairman, described the SLP as “the mouthpiece of the Bar” and pledged that the Section would continue to address the concerns of lawyers nationwide. Chief Obegolu, SAN, encouraged the Section to ensure inclusivity and to choose conference speakers wisely, while the NBA General Secretary congratulated the ExCo and urged them to deliver on their mandate.
A major highlight of the visit was the announcement that the NBA-SLP annual National Conference will hold from 8–11 April 2026 in Lagos. The Chairman further unveiled plans for nationwide outreach through regional visitations to NBA branches and law offices, aimed at reinforcing the SLP’s presence and supporting members in their day-to-day practice.
