The General Council of the Bar, at its meeting held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Hotel Seventeen Conference Centre, Kaduna State, passed a vote of confidence on the progressive administration of Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
The Council, which deliberated on critical issues regarding the administration of the general affairs of the NBA, encouraged the President to continue adopting policies that improve legal practice in Nigeria.
Key resolutions from the meeting include:
- The NBA Programme on Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is in line with the provisions of the Rules of Professional Conduct.
- A Committee will be set up to review the provisions of the Rules of Professional Conduct to identify and address any gaps.
Members of the council expressed gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Justice for its leadership role in strengthening the General Council of the Bar and confidence that the implementation of these resolutions will contribute significantly to the advancement of the Bar Council and the legal profession.
