On this most auspicious occasion, I bring warm greetings from the Registry and extend profound regards on behalf of His Excellency, Godwin Omoakan, SAN—President of the greatest institute on the African continent.

It is with immense honour and deep joy that I welcome you—distinguished members of the Governing Council, eminent guests, ladies and gentlemen—to the 2025 Nigerian Law School Special Induction Ceremony of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators.

Today, we gather not merely to celebrate an induction, but to bear witness to the continuation of a legacy—one forged through vision, scholarship, and a steadfast commitment to peacebuilding through dialogue.

This year marks the 26th anniversary of the founding of our noble Institute. For over two decades, we have nurtured a community that has grown in both strength and stature—now boasting over twenty thousand accomplished professionals drawn from the widest walks of life. A true reflection of our national and continental identity.

To our newly admitted members: today, you do not just enter an institute—you inherit a calling. A calling to mediate conflict where discord arises. A calling to build bridges where walls once stood. A calling to uphold justice—not only within the courtroom, but at every table where decisions are made and peace is brokered.

The Institute, ever mindful of its duty, has provided a path for your continuous evolution. Our Continuing Professional Development programmes—including Mediation Advocacy, Family Mediation, the Psychology of Mediation, and Online Dispute Resolution—are designed to equip you for the noble work ahead. And with digital platforms now at your fingertips, we have ensured that the acquisition of wisdom remains both seamless and accessible.

Across 22 branches spanning the length and breadth of Nigeria—and beyond, into the heart of West Africa—the Institute stands tall. Within your induction brochure, you will find the contact details of our branch Chairpersons. I urge you to engage, participate, and grow within these communities.

Let me also bring to your attention the Volunteer Mediation Scheme—an innovation that opens wide the door to practical immersion in real-world conflict resolution. It is our belief that knowledge, when tested by experience, becomes wisdom.

Dear inductees, your journey begins now. The race has commenced. In all that you do, uphold the standards that define this hallowed institution. The Institute’s code of discipline is resolute, for from discipline flows dignity.

From the Office of the Registrar

As many among us prepare for the Call to Bar, let us embrace a new judicial order—one where the courts are decongested, and disputes are resolved not with bitterness, but with understanding. Let us use our mediation skills as instruments of nation-building.

And so, with a heart full of pride, I say—welcome. Welcome to the honoured roll call of Mediators.

God bless you.
God bless the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
