Senior Advocate of Nigeria and renowned legal luminary, Chief Emeka J.P. Obegolu, SAN, Ph.D., FCIArb (UK), FICMC, has extended a heartfelt goodwill message to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Abuja Branch as it marks its 2025 Law Week.
In his message addressed to the Chairman and members of the Unity Bar, Obegolu commended the branch for its unwavering commitment to legal advancement, the promotion of the rule of law, and the defence of constitutional democracy in Nigeria.
He described the theme of the 2025 Law Week, “Unlocking Opportunities: New Frontiers”*, as timely and impactful, especially in the current national and global climate. According to him, the theme provides a much-needed platform for reflection, critical engagement, and a recommitment to the values of justice and equity that lie at the core of the legal profession.
“The NBA Abuja Branch, fondly known as the Unity Bar, holds a unique and strategic role in shaping jurisprudential thought and championing institutional reforms from the nation’s capital,” Obegolu stated.
He emphasised the importance of Law Week as more than a celebration of legal milestones, highlighting its role as a strategic forum for addressing urgent issues, such as judicial reforms, access to legal services, and the protection of human rights.
Obegolu expressed confidence that the deliberations during the week would inspire new policies and practices to strengthen Nigeria’s legal system and enhance public trust in the judiciary.
“May this Law Week reignite our shared passion for justice and reinforce the foundational principles that guide our professional calling,” he concluded.
He wished the Unity Bar continued strength, integrity, and influence, applauding its leadership and members for creating a platform that aligns with the evolving demands of modern legal practice.
