72-year-old Brighton fan dies while leaving stadium after Villa game

A 72-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion supporter has died after becoming unwell while leaving the Amex Stadium following the club’s Premier League match against Aston Villa.

According to PUNCH, the man fell ill while making his way to a supporters’ club bus in the stadium’s coach park after the match on Sunday.

Brighton confirmed that emergency responders and club personnel immediately attended to the supporter but were unable to save his life.

Emergency Teams Administered CPR

The supporter received prolonged cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the scene as medical personnel attempted to revive him.

South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics, St John Ambulance, Sussex Police, MB Medical Solutions, Brighton’s crowd doctor and club stewards were involved in the emergency response.

Despite their combined efforts, the medical team was unable to save the unidentified supporter.

Brighton had earlier defeated Aston Villa 4–0 in the Premier League fixture at the Amex Stadium.

Brighton Expresses Sorrow

Brighton’s Chief Executive and Deputy Chairman, Paul Barber, described the supporter’s death as a heartbreaking conclusion to what should have been a happy journey home.

“What should have been an ordinary and happy journey home ended in heartbreaking circumstances, and we are all shocked and saddened by the loss of one of our supporters,” Barber said.

He extended the club’s condolences to the deceased’s family and friends.

The club also thanked the emergency services, medical professionals and stadium personnel who worked together to provide the supporter with urgent care.

His identity and the medical condition that caused him to become unwell had not been publicly disclosed at the time of the announcement.
