Law School: Tinubu Appoints Dr. Olugbemisola Odusote as First Female Director-General of Nigerian Law School

Law School: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote as the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, making her the first woman to head the institution since its establishment in 1962. Her appointment takes effect January 10, 2026, for a four-year term.

Dr. Odusote, 54, currently serves as Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus. She will succeed Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, whose tenure concludes on January 9, 2026, after eight years of service.

An alumna of Obafemi Awolowo University, Dr. Odusote earned her LL.B. and LL.M. (Company and Commercial Law) from the institution and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988.

She holds a PhD in Law from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom, with research interests spanning Public Law and the administration of justice.

She joined the Nigerian Law School in 2001 as a lecturer and has since held several senior roles, including Head of Academic Department, Director of Academics, and Head of Campus.

She has also been a visiting scholar at Nottingham Trent University (UK), published widely in reputable local and international journals, and presented papers at major legal education conferences.

Dr. Odusote has served on committees of the Council of Legal Education and the Nigerian Bar Association.

As Director-General, Dr. Odusote will provide academic leadership, oversee administrative management, and drive the strategic direction of the Law School across all campuses, while serving as the principal liaison with the Council of Legal Education, the Body of Benchers, and the Nigerian Bar Association.
