Abuja, Nigeria – Prof. Josephine Aladi Achor Agbonika, SAN, a distinguished academic, accomplished legal practitioner, and trailblazing Senior Advocate of Nigeria, continues to make significant strides in the legal profession and beyond.
Born in Idah, Kogi State, and hailing from Otobo-Ajaka in Igalamela/Odolu LGA, Prof. Agbonika’s journey is marked by academic excellence, professional dedication, and a commitment to service.
Prof. Agbonika’s academic credentials include an LL.B from Ahmadu Bello University, an LL.M from the University of London, and a Ph.D. in Law with a specialization in Taxation from the University of Abuja.
Her extensive career, spanning over three decades, includes teaching positions at the University of Abuja, Kogi State University, and Salem University, where she held various administrative roles such as Dean, Head of Department, and Postgraduate Coordinator. Currently, she serves as the pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Law at Veritas University, Abuja.

Beyond academia, Prof. Agbonika has made notable contributions to public service, including her role as a pioneer Commissioner with the Tax Appeal Tribunal. She is an active member of numerous professional and academic bodies, including NALT, BOSAN, IBA, CITN (Fellow), and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
A prolific scholar, Prof. Agbonika has authored and co-authored over 100 academic publications and supervised hundreds of research works across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her expertise encompasses Taxation, Commercial Law, Human Rights, and Legal Methods.
Prof. Agbonika’s influence extends beyond the legal sphere. She is deeply involved in community, religious, and women empowerment initiatives, receiving multiple awards for her leadership and service, particularly within the Catholic Church and various women’s associations.
