In a heartfelt message that resonated deeply within the legal community, Professor Foluke Dada-Lawanson shared words of encouragement to young lawyers navigating the demanding realities of legal practice in Nigeria.
In a reflective post, she recounted coming across a young lawyer’s lament on Instagram about the long hours, modest remuneration, and mounting pressure to succeed in a system that often appears unyielding. Moved by his words, Prof. Dada-Lawanson offered a profound reminder that every accomplished lawyer once walked the same path of uncertainty and struggle.

“Your current struggle does not define your ultimate story,” she wrote, urging young lawyers to remain steadfast, resilient, and open to growth. “Every seasoned lawyer you admire today once faced moments of doubt, moments when giving up seemed easier. But they kept moving.”
She emphasized that persistence, continuous learning, and character development are the true building blocks of success in the legal profession. “Keep showing up,” she advised. “Keep learning, keep building character, and keep refining your craft. One day, these very experiences will become the foundation of your wisdom, the story that will inspire the next generation.”
Her message, which she concluded with the powerful affirmation “Keep moving, your possibility is on the way”, has since inspired many within the Nigerian Bar, serving as a timely reminder of the value of perseverance and purpose amid professional challenges.
