Mrs. Precious Ovuede-Pela, Treasurer of the NBA Warri Branch and Member of the NBA National Welfare Committee (2022–2024), has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of 22 athletic citizens in Kano on May 31, 2025.
The victims were reportedly travelling to Ogun State to participate in a Sports Festival.
Describing the incident as a heartbreaking national loss, Mrs. Ovuede-Pela stated:
“What a tragedy. My heartfelt condolences go to their immediate families, loved ones, and to Nigeria as a nation. May God grant comfort and strength in this difficult time.”
She emphasized that the sad occurrence is not just a loss to the bereaved families, but also to the country, which looked forward to their representation in the sporting event.
