Police React As Two Nollywood Actors Die After Eating Rice And Drinking Wine At Movie Set

The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the tragic deaths of two unidentified Nollywood actors in Owerri after reportedly consuming rice and wine on a movie set.

According to reports, the incident occurred shortly after filming wrapped. Actor Stanley Ontop disclosed via Instagram on Friday that four individuals were rushed to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Owerri, where two were pronounced dead on arrival.

The food and wine in question were allegedly provided by an unnamed movie director. The remaining two individuals are currently receiving medical treatment.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, DSP Henry Okoye, stated that the command has launched a full investigation. “Yes, the Command is aware of the unfortunate incident of unnatural death. I can confirm that two people were pronounced dead while two were hospitalised,” he said.

He further disclosed that the movie director and three female crew members have been arrested and are assisting police with the investigation.

CP Aboki Danjuma, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, has ordered a full pathological examination of the deceased to determine the exact cause of death. “The results will determine the next line of action on the matter,” Okoye added.
