Pursuant to the powers conferred by Section 14(3)(i) of the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association, 2015 (as amended in 2021), I am pleased to announce the constitution of Branch Elections Appeal Committees in line with Section 14(1), and subject to the ratification of the National Executive Council (NEC).

In accordance with Section 14(2)(m) of the same Constitution, the Committees are vested with the responsibility to entertain and resolve complaints and petitions related to Branch Elections. They are also empowered to:

  • Provide direction and interpretations guiding the conduct of elections; and
  • Determine matters relating to the qualification or disqualification of candidates seeking to participate in the said elections.

These Committees are essential to ensuring the integrity, transparency, and smooth conduct of elections across our Branches.

To all members of the Bar — especially aspirants to various Branch offices — I urge you to accord the Committees your full cooperation. Let us work together to ensure a seamless and credible transition process in all our NBA Branches.

Let the spirit of professionalism, fairness, and unity prevail as we move toward yet another important democratic process in the life of our Association.
