A Nigerian Police Inspector, Musa Isah, has been arrested for allegedly drugging and sodomising a 14-year-old boy inside the Police College Barracks in Maiduguri, Borno State. The shocking incident, which occurred on Friday, January 24, 2025, has sparked outrage and calls for justice.

Details of the Incident

According to multiple sources, Inspector Musa Isah, who serves as the Inspector Admin of the 74 Police Mobile Force in Damboa, lured the young boy to his residence at Block 42 within the Police College Barracks. Isah reportedly drugged the boy before sexually assaulting him.

The boy’s screams alerted neighbours, who rushed to the scene and forced Isah to open his door. The suspect and the victim were subsequently taken to the Metro Divisional Police Headquarters in Maiduguri, where Isah was detained.

During the investigation, the boy revealed that Isah had deceived him into visiting his flat, offered him a drink, and then took advantage of him after the drink rendered him weak.

A History of Abuse

Police sources disclosed that this was not Isah’s first offence. In 2022, he was caught sodomising another young boy at the Mopol 6 Barracks in Maiduguri. At the time, the victim’s family chose not to press charges, and Isah was transferred to Damboa. However, he allegedly manipulated his way back to Maiduguri, where he continued preying on young boys.

Isah reportedly used money, flashy gadgets like Android phones, and designer clothes to lure his victims. Many young boys in the Mopol 6 Barracks and Police College Barracks are believed to have fallen victim to his predatory behavior.

Calls for Justice

Despite being in detention, Isah has reportedly boasted that he has connections in high places and will escape punishment. This has raised concerns about the integrity of the investigation and the need for accountability within the Nigerian Police Force.

Calls to the police spokesperson, Nahum Daso, for comments on the case went unanswered.

Legal and Social Implications

Homosexuality is criminalised in Nigeria under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act of 2013. In the 12 Northern states that operate under Sharia law, including Borno, the maximum penalty for homosexual acts is death by stoning.

This case highlights the intersection of criminal law, Sharia law, and the urgent need to address sexual violence and abuse of power within law enforcement agencies.

This incident follows a recent report by SaharaReporters about a Nigerian Army lieutenant arrested for molesting and engaging in homosexual acts with junior colleagues in Borno State.

The arrest of Inspector Musa Isah underscores the urgent need for systemic reforms within the Nigerian Police Force to address sexual violence and abuse of power. As the investigation unfolds, there is a growing demand for justice and accountability to ensure that such heinous acts are not swept under the rug.
