Police Arrest Suspect Over Niger Motorcyclist’s Killing

Police in Niger State have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the killing of a commercial motorcyclist whose motorcycle was allegedly stolen after the attack.

The suspect, Mohammed Ibrahim, also known as Manga, was arrested by officers from Maikunkele Division working with the Violent Crime Response Unit.

According to Premium Times, police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun disclosed the arrest in a statement on Wednesday, October 14.

Police alleged that Ibrahim hired Shehu Mohammed, 23, on September 30 to convey him from Beji to Garatu village. During the return journey, he allegedly conspired with two others to attack and kill the rider.

Investigators said they recovered the motorcycle and a cutlass. The suspect remains in custody while officers search for his alleged accomplices.

The arrest was announced alongside five others connected with separate kidnapping investigations in the state. Police said those cases would proceed to court after investigations.

The allegations have not been tested in court, and the suspects remain presumed innocent.
