The Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law is turning its attention to Nigeria’s tourism economy with a four-day tourism retreat and roundtable scheduled for Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The programme, organised by the NBA-SBL Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Committee, is scheduled for October 1 to 4, 2026, and will focus on the theme, “Unlocking Investment in the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Sector: The Role of Data and Innovative Financing.”
NBA-SBL Chairman Baba Alokolaro said Nigeria has significant tourism assets whose commercial potential remains largely undeveloped. The roundtable is expected to bring together lawyers, investors, financiers, policymakers, regulators and industry operators.
Key areas of discussion are expected to include investment structures, infrastructure, financing, regulation, reliable industry data and the role lawyers can play in creating bankable tourism and hospitality projects.
The initiative also reflects the expanding role of business lawyers beyond dispute resolution into investment structuring, regulatory compliance, project development and sector-specific policy reform.
