In a significant development, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has announced the formation of a Caretaker Committee for the NBA Orlu Branch, following the directive from the NBA Branch Appeal Committee (South East).
The directive mandated the disbandment of the current Electoral Committee, necessitating the immediate establishment of a new governance structure.
The newly constituted Caretaker Committee is composed of:
- Chris Ikwuoma – Chairman
- Jude O. Oduoma – Alternate Chairman
- Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu – Secretary
This committee is vested with the responsibility of addressing outstanding issues within the branch and ensuring the conduct of branch elections in accordance with the NBA Uniform Bye-Laws for Branches.
They are expected to organize an Annual General Meeting within three months, during which new officers will be elected.
Mazi Osigwe has urged all members of the Orlu Branch to support the Caretaker Committee in its vital role and highlighted the importance of upholding transparent electoral processes.
The Caretaker Committee will assume its responsibilities immediately, as part of the commitment to restoring effective leadership within the NBA Orlu Branch.
