The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Gwagwalada Branch, fondly known as the Eagle Bar, has officially been approved as a Service Provider by the NBA Institute of Continuing Legal Education (NBA-ICLE).
This milestone achievement under the leadership of its Chairman, Clever N. Owhor, Esq., marks a significant step towards deepening the branch’s commitment to the professional advancement of its members.
The confirmation was conveyed through a letter addressed to the Chairman of the branch, titled “Approval of NBA Gwagwalada Branch as NBA – ICLE Service Provider”, and signed by the Director of the Institute.
Reacting to this development, Luqman Hassan, Esq., Chairman of the Branch Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Committee and immediate past Secretary of the branch, recalled that he had earlier reassured members of the branch regarding recent developments at the national level concerning the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD).
He reiterated that there was no cause for alarm, emphasizing that the MCPD policy is consistent with the Legal Practitioners Act and the 2023 Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners.
He stressed that the policy does not only facilitate access to the annual practice licence but also serves as a key instrument for career growth and professional development.
According to him, the Gwagwalada Branch has always prioritized initiatives that support the continuous learning and development of its members.
Reflecting on his past tenure as CLE Committee Chair over five years ago, Luqman recounted how the branch had set the pace for quality professional training programmes.
In his renewed role, he has vowed to further strengthen the branch’s commitment, assuring members that his committee would ensure smooth access to MCPD credit points.
He added that a comprehensive lineup of webinars and training sessions will soon commence, with many of them offered at no cost to members.
This accreditation not only affirms the Eagle Bar’s long-standing efforts in legal education but also positions it as a key driver in the continuing legal education landscape of the Nigerian Bar.
