The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Gwagwalada Branch, under the vibrant leadership of Clever N. Owhor, Esq., has successfully hosted its maiden edition of Health Fitness Day — a groundbreaking initiative aimed at improving the overall wellbeing of members of the Bar.
The program featured a Health Walk, medical checks (including blood pressure, sugar level, and malaria tests), alongside a rich lineup of games such as volleyball, badminton, ludo, and football. The event not only promoted healthy living but also created opportunities for bonding and recreation among members.
In line with the popular adage that “health is wealth,” the initiative was conceived by the Office of the Social Secretary, Mrs. Clarion Korie, in collaboration with the Social and Entertainment Committee. It reflects the Branch’s commitment to promoting holistic welfare for members, beyond professional practice.
Since taking office, the administration of Clever N. Owhor, Esq. has recorded notable strides, including:
- Enhanced Continuing Legal Education (CLE): The Branch has consistently organized capacity-building workshops and seminars to equip members with cutting-edge knowledge in diverse practice areas.
- Welfare Initiatives: The leadership has strengthened the welfare scheme to provide members with timely support in times of need, reflecting the Branch’s spirit of solidarity.
- Active Community Engagement: The Branch has undertaken outreach programs to foster stronger ties with the Gwagwalada community and promote public interest advocacy.
- Improved Internal Governance: Under his watch, the Branch has consolidated its administrative framework, ensuring greater accountability and inclusiveness in decision-making.
The Health Fitness Day is now scheduled to be held monthly, ensuring members can regularly monitor and maintain their health. The next edition will be announced in due course.
