LPPC Elevates 87 Legal Practitioners to SAN Rank

The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC), under the leadership of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, has approved the elevation of 87 legal practitioners to the prestigious Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The decision was made during the LPPC’s 164th Plenary session.

The list includes 86 advocates and one academic, Prof. Ganiu Oke Adeyemi. Notable appointees among the newly elevated senior advocates include Monday Ubani, Ayoola Olufemi Ajayi, and Akingbamigbe Adesomoju.

This elevation recognises their outstanding contributions to the legal profession and marks them as leading figures in their fields. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Monday, September 30, 2024, the commencement of the new legal year.

The LPPC also addressed five petitions submitted against some applicants, all dismissed. The rank of SAN remains one of the highest honours in the Nigerian legal profession, reserved for lawyers who have shown exceptional skill, integrity, and dedication.
