The Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN), Kano State Chapter, has distanced itself from reports suggesting that its members have committed to the presidential aspiration of Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, describing the publication as inaccurate and not reflective of the Chapter’s collective position.
In a statement issued by the Chapter, LOAN said its attention had been drawn to a publication titled, “Kano LOAN Members Reaffirm Commitment to a Stronger NBA Through Strategic Engagement with Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN,” and deemed it necessary to set the record straight and dispel any misconception among members of the Bar and the general public.
According to the Association, the engagement held on Sunday, July 12, 2026, was merely an interactive session attended by members in good faith to hear from aspirants seeking elective offices in the Nigerian Bar Association.
It stressed that attendance at such engagements should not be misconstrued as an endorsement or commitment of the entire Chapter to any particular candidate.

LOAN further clarified that the Kano State Chapter has not endorsed Mr. Akinboro’s candidacy and remains committed to making decisions collectively in the best interest of the legal profession.
The Association stated that following extensive consultations and deliberations among its members, the Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN), Kano State Chapter, has unanimously resolved to support Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN for the office of President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
The Chapter noted that its decision was informed by its confidence in her vision, leadership capacity, commitment to institutional development, and her agenda for a more inclusive, progressive, and responsive Nigerian Bar Association.
LOAN Kano State Chapter urged members of the Bar and the public to disregard any publication suggesting that the Chapter had endorsed any other candidate, reaffirming that its official position remains its unequivocal support for Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, in the forthcoming NBA presidential election.
