It is with great pleasure that I extend my warm congratulations to the Nigerian Bar Association, Akure Branch (Sunshine Bar), on the occasion of its 2025 Law Week, held in honour of Senator Dr. Bode Olajumoke, LL.M, Ph.D, LL.D, B.L.

This year’s theme — “Nigeria: Quest for Utilitarian Judiciary and Roles for Stakeholders” — is both timely and profound. It aptly underscores the urgent need for a justice system that is people-centred, efficient, and anchored on the principles of fairness and accountability. A truly utilitarian judiciary prioritizes the common good while ensuring that justice is not only done but seen to be done.

The theme also challenges all stakeholders — the Bar, the Bench, policymakers, and citizens — to play active roles in building a judiciary that reflects the collective aspirations of our nation. Indeed, the rule of law flourishes best when all actors in the justice system work collaboratively toward equity, transparency, and societal progress.

I commend the leadership and members of the Akure Branch for their dedication to promoting legal excellence and for providing a platform for critical discourse on issues that shape our profession and nation. May this Law Week inspire renewed commitment to justice, service, and the noble ideals of the legal profession.
