Family of Woman Allegedly Murdered by Gospel Singer Timileyin Ajayi Demands Justice

The family of Salome Eleojo Adaidu, a 24-year-old NYSC member allegedly murdered and dismembered by gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi, has accused the Nigerian police of withholding crucial information and mishandling the case. They also refute claims that Salome had a romantic relationship with the suspect.

Salome’s elder sister, Patience Adaidu, expressed her frustrations about the lack of communication from officers at the Orozo Police Station in New Karshi, Abuja, where the case was initially lodged.

“We Are Kept in the Dark”

According to Patience, the police have not provided updates on the investigation. “The officers at Orozo Police Station are not giving us any information,” she said, adding that the family was shocked by rumors that the case might be transferred to Keffi, Nasarawa State, despite the incident occurring in Abuja.

Tragic Discovery

Patience recounted that Salome left home on Saturday, saying she was visiting a friend. By Sunday, the family received a call reporting an “accident” in Uke, Nasarawa State. Upon arrival, they discovered Salome had been brutally murdered.

“The body was cut into pieces—her head, hands, and legs were dismembered,” Patience said. “The sight was unbearable. We buried her remains, but we’ve since heard rumors that some body parts were found elsewhere, which the police didn’t tell us.”

Denial of Relationship

The family strongly denied Ajayi’s claims that he had been romantically involved with Salome. “He claims to have known my sister for a year, but none of us have ever seen or heard of him. Salome didn’t make friends easily, and those she trusted would have known him if his claims were true,” Patience stated.

Demands for Justice

The family is calling for the case to be transferred to Abuja for a thorough and transparent investigation. “We want answers. The suspect must be interrogated, and the truth must come to light. Salome deserves justice,” Patience added.

Background

Timileyin Ajayi, a self-proclaimed gospel singer, was arrested after being found with a sack allegedly containing the severed head of Salome. Witnesses claimed he attempted to conceal the evidence during a church service, leading to his apprehension.

Ajayi reportedly admitted to the crime during preliminary questioning, but the full details of the incident remain unclear as the family continues to seek accountability and justice for Salome Eleojo Adaidu.
