Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be defeated in the 2027 presidential election, regardless of the political influence or resources available to the ruling party.

According to Naija News, Dalung made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, where he argued that the outcome of the Osun State governorship election provides an indication of what to expect in the next general election.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain claimed that President Tinubu would still lose the election even under hypothetical circumstances in which key public institutions were led by members of his family.

“What happened in Osun is a confirmation of what I have said two years ago, that even if Tinubu appointed his wife (Remi Tinubu) as Chief Justice of Nigeria and appointed Seyi as INEC chairman, he is going to be defeated woefully in 2027,” Dalung said.

He argued that Nigerians would ultimately assess the administration based on its performance, particularly in the areas of governance, security and public welfare.

According to Naija News, Dalung criticised political leaders whom he accused of neglecting their constitutional responsibilities while focusing on personal interests instead of leaving lasting legacies through good governance.

He further stated that regional political dynamics and the President’s performance in office would play significant roles in determining the outcome of the 2027 election.

Dalung also dismissed suggestions that recent defections to the ruling party would significantly improve President Tinubu’s electoral prospects.

According to him, the 2027 election would be decided by Nigerians rather than by political alliances or party structures.

Dalung’s comments represent his personal political opinion and prediction. They do not constitute established facts about the outcome of the 2027 presidential election.
