The applicants, represented by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Rilwanu Umar, requested the court to prevent Ado Bayero from making changes to the palace, which they argued is the property of the Kano State Government and the Emirate Council.

In her ruling on the interlocutory injunction, Justice Dije Abdu Aboki, the Chief Judge of Kano State, found merit in the applicants’ case and granted the request. Justice Aboki noted that the respondent, Ado Bayero, had neither submitted a counter affidavit nor a written address in opposition.
