On Saturday, July 5, 2025, Chief Emeka J.P. Obegolu, SAN, President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), joined the leadership and members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Sokoto Branch at their Annual General Meeting and Law Dinner.
The event, held in Sokoto, was a rich gathering of legal minds, distinguished jurists, and members of the legal community, who convened to reflect on the Branch’s progress and to celebrate exemplary service within the profession.
Chief Obegolu’s presence at the event was marked by a deep sense of nostalgia, as he recounted his last visit to Sokoto over a decade ago during his tenure as General Secretary of the NBA.
His return this time as a leading voice in Nigeria’s legal and business community underscored his consistent commitment to national development and institutional leadership.
“It is an honour to be back in Sokoto, a place that evokes profound memories of my service as NBA General Secretary. Witnessing the evolution of the Branch and the strength of its leadership today fills me with pride and renewed hope for the Bar,” Chief Obegolu said.
As President of the ACCI, Chief Obegolu has been instrumental in bridging the gap between the legal profession and the business sector, fostering innovation, enterprise development, and cross-sectoral collaborations that benefit both public and private interests.
His stewardship at the Chamber has been marked by forward-looking policy advocacy, SME empowerment, and regional economic initiatives that have earned him both national and international recognition.
At the dinner, members of the NBA Sokoto Branch turned out in numbers to celebrate their Chairperson, Rasheedat Mohammed, whose leadership has steered the Branch toward greater visibility, inclusiveness, and professional engagement.
The evening’s highlight was the presentation of an Award of Recognition and Appreciation to the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, for his transformative leadership and dedication to the legal profession.
Chief Obegolu commended the NBA Sokoto Branch for its warmth, professionalism, and enduring commitment to the values of justice and good governance.
