Air Peace has declared that its Chairman and CEO, Dr. Allen Onyema, and its Chief of Finance and Administration (CFA), Mrs. Ejiro Eghagha, remain innocent of the recent charges filed against them by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). The charges include allegations of fraud and obstruction of justice.
The airline management responded to reports of the expanded legal charges, emphasising that these stem from older accusations of financial misconduct. They reassured customers that these legal matters would not disrupt Air Peace’s operations or compromise its safety and reliability.
In their statement, Air Peace maintained that both Onyema and Eghagha are cooperating fully with authorities and are confident that the legal process will eventually clear their names. The company affirmed, “These charges are mere allegations, and the case is still in court. Our legal team is actively engaged to ensure justice prevails.”
The DOJ has accused Onyema of using Air Peace as a front to allegedly commit banking fraud in the United States and further attempting to obstruct the investigation with false documents. The expanded charges follow previous allegations that Onyema used over $3 million from accounts tied to various organisations to purchase aircraft for Air Peace.
Despite these legal challenges, Air Peace assured its customers that its operations would continue smoothly, emphasising their ongoing commitment to delivering quality service. The company expressed gratitude for the support and understanding from the public during this period.
